TRANSPORTATION

Rio de Janeiro has convenient access by plane from within Brazil and abroad, using the International Airport Antonio Carlos Jobin (Galeão, IATA record GIG). Connections from other arriving airports can either use Galeão airport or the domestic Santos Dumont (IATA: SDU) airport. From a large number of Brazilian cities and a few South American places there is also road transportation by long distance buses, which arrive at Rodoviaria Novo Rio, from where there is public transportation (with change of vehicle) to the venue and hotels.

Ground transportation:

Taxi and Uber are common in Rio and usually are not expensive for short to medium distances. At Galeão Uber vehicles receive passengers at the Boarding level. Santos Dumont airport has a Uber lounge in the nearby connected shopping mall, follow the marked strip.

From the airports there are special taxi services with fixed fares to all Rio de Janeiro neighborhoods.

Metro and VLT lines uses a prepaid card (or tickets) that shall be acquired before boarding the vehicle. Cards are sold at automated vending machines at stops. The cost of the card and remaining balance is refunded at the same machines.

We suggest attendees to book hotel nearby the main metro line connecting Copacabana district to Maracanã, this will save time in the daily shuttle. At Copacabana, Flamengo, Catete and Finance district (from Cinelândia to Presidente Vargas) there is plenty of hotels of all categories.
